The following post was written before I attempted the Rapid Ideation 1.

‘One of the exciting aspects of a rapid ideation (RI) session is there is often a big reveal in terms of the theme or brief. Even the organisers do not know what the theme is until the start of an event. This is done through the use of random generators, such as Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategy cards or Verbs, Nouns and Adjectives (VNA) cards.’

During the Week 4 webinar, Giovanni Rubino created a random theme using a text prompt and an image selected from a pack of cards. The idea is to use this theme and dive in to create a prototype design or an app. This is a 2-week sprint — 14th October to 28th October

Below image is the selected theme:

My goal, before the starting the Rapid Ideation (RI) session 1, is to start basic and not to overthink. I want to set out a plan for the 2-week sprint to ensure that I am able to complete the task. The screenshot above is the given theme. Before beginning on the task, my plan to was think; how I’m going to do this, what tools and skills are required in order to start/complete this, and what I hoped to gain from this RI.

Once I’m able to set up a plan, I can then jump straight in, knowing that the earlier plan has given me the ease and motivation to begin the task. The fear I have is, am I going to be able to make most of my time for the RI as well as being able to quickly learn the tools for this RI. As this is a RI session, the purpose is to dive and see what I capable of doing as I’m going along. Sometimes I do feel that diving straight in is the best way to learn. Afterall, this is the best place to take risks, make mistakes and work outside my comfort zone.
