Week 7 — Reflecting my Previous Rapid Ideation (RI) Session

The first RI session was truthfully my first sprint. Although I had an understanding of how the sprint works, I figured I was able to do this without much difficulty.

When the theme was given, I had a vague idea of what to create but it was the ‘how’ I’m going do this. From previous experience, I knew which tool to use to create the designs. What I didn’t realise was how quick the 2 weeks of sprint would go by. I used more time figuring out what I wanted to do than actually implementing the task.

My approach to this task was to create some planning and lists of things to do in order to complete the task. I think in the end, I wasn’t able to produce the paper-based designs and jumped straight into the design phase.

I think going into the second RI Session and any other future sprint, I would very much like to show case planning in a little more detail whilst still keeping track of the timing. I like to work in a principle where I’d like to plan first and then jump into the design phase. As usually during the latter stage, I like to review back on to the planning stage as this helps to keep on track and aware of my current task. Going forward now I can take into consideration that my planning doesn’t need to be perfect as long as I am able to look back. Sometimes, this can help me come up with new ideas along the way.

I think my main focus point is to make the designs more presentable rather than being simple and basic. I would also like to work in small group with other members in my course. I think this will give me another opportunity to learn from others as well as share my inputs and experiences. Looking on the comments and webinar sessions, I can definitely tell that majoring have the willingness to learn and some come with a background of experience through education and work.
